Articles on: Introducing Whympr

How do I create, edit, and save a track on Whympr?

Whympr lets you plan your routes before you head out, and also review and edit a track afterward. Here’s everything you need to know.

Create a track

Tap the “+” at the bottom center of the app and select “Create a track.”

Your location is marked on the map with a blue dot. Tap the screen to set your starting point.

Plotting your route

You have two ways to draw your route:

  1. With the magic wand

Activate the “magic wand” tool in the bottom right corner. Whympr automatically connects the points you place by following existing trails.

In drawing mode, you trace directly with your finger on the map, and Whympr aligns your path with the actual trails.

  1. Without the magic wand

Points are connected by straight lines, or your finger-drawn path is reproduced exactly as drawn, which is useful for off-trail routes.

View real-time information

At the top of the screen, you can see the following in real time:

📏 Total distance

⬆️ Elevation gain

⬇️ Elevation loss

In the bottom right corner, you can also switch to 3D view, change the map background...

Save and share your track

Once your track is complete:

Save it: it will appear in your profile under “Created tracks.”

You can download it offline to use it in the mountains without a network connection.

Share it easily via message, email, or link.

Trimming a Saved Track

Did you forget to stop recording at the end of your ride, and your drive back ended up in the track? Don’t panic 😄

On iOS, you can trim your track when you’re entering your ride details, right before saving it.

⚠️ Important: This is the only time you can do this. Once the track is saved, you can no longer trim it.

On Android, this feature isn’t available yet.

Follow a track:

Tap the “+” at the bottom center of the app and select “Start GPS Tracking.”
